Making a Weight for AR Stock

I'm considering making a stock weight for my AR. I have a bunch of lead laying around. I have a pot to melt the lead. The only thing I can't figure out is how to make a mould to pour the molten lead in. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, I should have specified. I have a new RR LAR-15 CMP Match rifle. I will be adding weight to the forend and stock. There are commerically available weights for both. I was looking a some of the prices for these and they were out of sight, so I was considering casting my own lead weight. I have since found a more reasonably priced source, so I may go that route.

I have the A 4. The stock and forearm are not modified. The barrel is a Wilson match. The sights on the carry handle are match sights.

Here's what you do for a mold: All you need is a block of wood into which you have cut the shape required. If you have a router, then use it to cut a slot partway down into the block. If you don't, then a good Dremel or similar with a coarse cutting bit should do, although a bit slower. (Watch out for sawdust!) If you don't have the tools, then see if a woodworking friend could help out. Barring this, take a look around to see if you can't find an object with the necessary shape already in it, and pour your melted lead into it. (granted, it's gotta be fireproof!)

Good luck, and let us know how it works out!

Thanks. I had thought about making a wooden mould, but I thought I'd catch the wood on fire. If you think it would be safe, I might give it a try. I once filled an old 1911 magazine with molten lead and used wood on the sides to keep the lead from coming out through the witness holes. The wood got pretty scortched.
