If you have the budget, go with a CZ 452. The Toz (made in Russia in the Tula plant) are pretty sweet and affordable. Of course you cant go wrong with the Marlin or Ruger.

10/22! My first rifle and I still love it. I got it when I was 16 and have done a few upgrades on it, but even bone stock they are awesome.

30 round magazines are cheap too, as are new stocks, and numerous other accessories.
