Stay away from anything cast. I think pretty much everyone has gone to forged by now, so any new receiver from a reputable manufacturer should be fine.

What about the milled Lowers?

The billet ones? I'd say not. If the M16/M4 can use the forged lowers, I say that's good enough for lil' ole me any time. The extra cost would most certainly not be worth it, IMHO.
