Small Change Yields Big Results

Hello,

My Romanian trainer had bee shooting somewhat erratically.

I sealed the stock, and while I was at it, I installed a trigger stop screw.

I really like the way it feels now.

It will now shoot subsonic Remingtons to about the same POA at 50 yards as it does the Golden Bullets, so I have a choice now. I spent the day picking off dirt clods and making shots easily that I used to have to work at.

It's looking a bit strange, but it's very functional.

The last thing I have to do to it is figure out what's going on with the extractor. There's not enough tension on the cases and they regularly fall out during extraction, but I don't see any way to really adjust it either. We'll see what happens.

I'll post groups here when I get more time. One thing I've noticed: no more fliers.

Please educate me. How does a trigger stop screw improve accuracy?

It helps with follow through.

The .22lr bullet moves slowly enough in the barrel that it is more sensitive to gun movement after the trigger is pulled than most other firearms.

Here:

7.62x54r case. I pounded it into a tree stump with the bottom facing me. I smacked it with a bullet at 50 yards, first try.

By contrast

The flier here was due to the long overtravel. That's five shots at 50 yards.

I'm glad my Romy Trainer likes cheap Federal Bulk Ammo

I've since added an older Bushnell 1.5-4x scope with a quick change reticle.

From crosshair to heavy post with the twist of a ring.

Works great for dark woods and bushytails!

Usually Camp Atterbury one day a month for work and I've gone way up north to Young's Longshot Range twice this month. That place is awesome!
