I'm a moron...

Well, I'm getting ready for the Appleseed shot, but sighting in my 10/22s. I decide to take my Anschutz because it has a 4-12 scope to use for spotting. I sight in the 10/22s and all is well. The trigger on them isn't great, but works fine. It seemed OK to me. So why don't I shoot my Anschutz... I'm a moron. I'm supposed to shot with 10/22s tomorrow, but now I know how bad the triggers are. Idiot.

The Anschutz fires via mind control. The take up is fairly long, but then you think about shooting and it fires. Why couldn't I wait until I did the Appleseed before shooting this again.

Well, I moved to the 50 yard range, from the 25 meters I was sighting in and shot some groups. Using Remington Golden Bullet Bulk, this is how 10 rounds grouped. I'd forgotten how much of a tack driver the Anscutz really is. The fault for the group size larger than .22 is probably mine.

I see trigger work for the 10/22s in the future. Darn it. More money.

The 10/22 trigger is just fine for an Appleseed shoot. You will be learning new shooting positions, natural point of aim, plus working on the basics sight alignment, sight picture, focusing on the front sight, focusing your mind, trigger squeeze and follow through. To be honest after you learn the above a crappy trigger can be overcome.

I would highly recommend the Kidd Trigger. They make a few different ones to suit any of your needs. they are a little pricey, but they make a huge difference. one of my buddies had one on his 10/22 and it ruined my shooting experience with mine (stock trigger).

I just need to save up some money and I will be ordering one.

I have heard good things about the VQ trigger assembly as well, but have never tried it personally.

My opinion is that the Kidd trigger is not worth the cost. I have shot one quite a bit, it is certainly a nice trigger, but I don't think it warrants the price. YMMV.
