    • Its in our policy manual. I'll bring it to the range this saturday for you to see if you if you'd like.
Brian, I reviewed the new website and do not see the provision that allows ROs to carry loaded guns. Please direct me to that provision. Thank you.
The cold range rule has ALWAYS been a rule...but, unfortunatly, not always strictly enforced at times by some ROs. If we are going to start strictly enforcing this rule now we have to be consistant with everyone and we are asking all ECPR patrons to follow the cold carry mode of carry (mag out, slide locked back, in the holster). This is per page 10 of my Eagle Creek Pistol Range policy manual. Also, per page 12 ROs are "to wear a handgun in open carry".

You can unload your firearm(s) at home if you like and bring the gun to ECPR cold as most do, but I would doubt there is any chance of us finding the funding to create some elaborate unloading area for our cutomers.

Perhaps this could be discussed with Steve Stillabower as to his best recommendation.

Again, as far as our policy goes, the gun(s) must be unloaded when you enter the range...when and where you do it, is up to you. As stated on the ECPR web site, loaded guns are not allowed in any Indy Parks.

We are trying to maintain a safe atmosphere at the range and the rules that have been put in place for us to enforce are there to acheive that goal for all of our customers.

Pleese feel free to contact Indy Parks for any other further clairification on this subject and you are more than welcome to address me specifically if you like about my enforcement of this rule at ECPR.

      Brian J.
      1. If you are choosing to enforce the alleged cold range rule now after so much time of non-enforcement, then you will have many more people handling firearms in dangerous areas with your vehicle or I-465 as a backstop. I would suggest the construction of a backstop (pile of dirt or sand) and fiddle table where individuals could unload and then load.

      2. I do not see where ROs are exempted from the cold range rule. Could you please provide that reference for me?

      3. No need to thank me for my compliance. Rules are sometimes rules and if the ROs are no going to enforce this rule, then I will of course follow it. My only concern is safety. Enforcement of this rule leads to additional unnecessary gun handling which can be extremely hazardous.

If we must have this unnecessary gunhandling then I can only suggest that it be done as safely as possible by constructing a load/unload area. Optimal safety would be just to leave guns in holsters, but if we cannot do that then something needs to be done to ensure that rounds do not leave the range (or go into other people or cars).

      Shoot straight,

      Kirk
