They're practicing searching for a "weapons dealer". No better description of what kind of "weapons dealer". Al-Queda type, or FFL type? And "cordon and knock" house to house? What?

The worst thing of all of this is it's NG personnel doing this. There was another post about NG personnel in New Orleans doing the "cordon and knock" thing as well, wasn't there? How well did that go over?

Are they trying to alienate all gunowners at once? Never mind, I think that's rhetorical...

The training is not for the search, it is to desensitize the soldiers to martial law. They have been doing these drills for years, but they seem more and more frequent. However this one is a bit more innocent than some of the ones in the past.

Hate to rain on your parade, but we conduct searches for weapons dealers as well as cordon and knocks in Iraq. Maybe it's just a coincidence that we're using it in Iraq and it's really training for use in the US.

Well in that case, why don't we just close 29 Palms and Camp Pendleton then, Why would you need dedicated training grounds, when you can do this in the middle of th civilian populous.


The point is that Military operations are just that, and should not be conducted in American cities or towns.

I dunno, last I checked, they weren't doing live-fire training in the middle of th civilian populous [sic].

I am not going to argue the semantics with you right now. Instead why don't you actually give me some real justification as to why this excersize should be conducted. What benifits are there for the soldiers in question to receive from this being done amist the populus as opposed to on army property?

Just like Sarge said. desensitize citizens to military (or military-like) searches.
People should be angered by this sort of thing. (I know I am.)

Citizens are not here for the benefit of training the Guard, Police, Marines, Army or the SS. Our Bill of Rights confirms citizens right to refuse entry without a specific warrant, and to refuse quarter (that goes for training too).
(These actions violate constitutional amendments 3, 4, 5, and if they are looking for firearms, the 2nd as well)

CCE- How can you expect to get realistic interaction from American citizens who agreed to help with this, when you are training for a deployment as an occupational force in a foreign land whith a completely different culture and practices.

And I wouold probably cut you some slack but the 3rd div. patch tells me that you should know better. And being as I will put a proud and honorable vet. from Iwo in the ground this week, I expect more from you.

Now try again in a VALID justification. Try reasoning, or at least CITE something. Give me meat to chew and perhaps even choke on.
