Now I am not talking about you democrats because I think you are in the same boat as republicans and independents; although, it is people like you that keep voting idiots like Waxman and Pelosi back into office.

I am currently watching the debate on the Cap and Trade (TAX, TAX, TAX) on TV. I remember in the 70's when there was an hysteria about running out of oil. I remember discussing what we would do with our automobiles. I remember that one of the civilian contractors from IBM told me to keep em because, if we did run out of oil, they would become collector items.

Of course, we did not run out of oil, in fact, more oil has been available than ever thought existed. There is even a valid theory out there that oil is not what you have been taught it was in school, but produced in the depths of earth and eventually bubbles to the surface turning into what this legislation is trying to eliminate. The reason it is valid is because it has one element in it that is not produced by decayed matter, helium.

I am astounded that the dem politicians are turning a blind eye to how this will effect those that will be hurt the most, the poor. They will be hit the hardest as energy prices skyrocket in the out years. By the way, the bill has a small impact in 2010 with estimates of around a postage stamp a day (of course the cost of a stamp is going up too), that will skyrocket by 2035 when it is estimated to cost over $7,000 (in todays dollars) per family per year as the CO2 limit is reduced.

By far, the cheapest form of energy is oil. The cost gap between oil and the next energy source is very very wide. That is the main reason that oil is the most popular. Any other source will cost you dearly even if the costs for them come down due to increased efficiencies. The fact that the dems are not interested in any kind of stop gap measure, like finding new oil or any kind of nuclear energy brands this as what it is, a political grab for more control because that is what this is all about. It has been said that once the people can figure out they can vote themselves money out of the treasury, the country is doomed. Imagine if you make the poor poorer, or put more people on welfare, as this will force more in that direction. What does that give the dems? More voters. I have to wonder.

You're right. All of the current legislations are about gaining power for themselves at the expense of America. Whether it is this burdensome tax on the economy, grabbing power of the auto industry, taking over the health care industry, etc, it all is done with the intent of gaining more control & more money.

That has always been the Demo's strategy, keep them down, but help them out just enough to show false improvement in lifestyle to keep them voting for the help that is causing them to keep enabling themselves in their situation.

They want people to suffer and loose their homes. That way they can claim more for their government, and more control. More people will have to ask for 'handouts'. When people are begging, they won't have to fight em'.
