![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | a rare comment from me .... I almost always try to avoid posting here due to my habit of avoiding raising my blood pressure....... situational awareness, ya know....... However, this is gonna be mild, by some comparisons. I'm over 60 yrs old, and most of my life is behind me. It really scares me when the vast majority of folks take a satirical look at politics and fail to realize that the country most of us old guys served, and grew up with, could disappear in the not too distant future. I posted a little blurb about attitudes recently, got repped for it (thanks), but think about the substance. We need to start preaching the Constitution along with it's components..... (the 2nd Amendment), to every politician we can corner. They don't like hearing it, because they haven't read it. How many want their grandkids to be forced to learn Chinese, because this country has been purchased by China? The Chinese own a substantial part of us as it is. Yes, as gun owners, our primary focus seems to be the 2nd Amendment, but we, along with every other person who values freedom, best get off our collective asses, and collar our run-away politicians. My request is that we stop focusing on Democrats, Republicans, or Independents, or Hari Krishna's, or any other mantra, and start shoveling the constitution down the throats of anyone who we can corner. I don't like Jay Leno much, but he had a bunch of clips on the other day, along the lines of ....... college student was asked who the "founding fathers" were...... the student answered...... " one of the older mens clubs?" That clip got lots of laughs, but not from me. One of these days, that clip may come true. I'm after my representatives weekly, by phone, email, and letters. Folks best get with it, or we may lose what we've learned to take for granted. It's kinda like guns, if you don't take care of 'em..... before long, they aren't gonna work any more. Happy Indepenence day to all....... I sincerely hope we have some more ..... SEMPER FI

![]() ![]() ![]() | +1 There seems to be to many people nowadays that are more concerned about some child molesting "pop star" passing than the rights we are loosing daily and the uncontrolled, over pressing govt we now live under.

![]() Isn't it sad how so many people get caught up in the noise and just can't seem to keep their eye on the important things? I couldn't agree more with this comment. I'm a firm believer that there are some good people in any of the political parties and that there are bad ones too. Collectively, both of the major parties seem to be more focused on getting re-elected than actually making sure that they are keeping sacred the things that made us the United States of America in the first place. Doing whatever it takes to get re-elected sounds good at first (listing to your constituents, yada, yada, yada), until you look a little deeper and realize that the primary method of making oneself look good politically is to make your adversary look worse. Most campaigns are negative. That is to say that the candidate's platform isn't usually "I'm the best choice because I'll bring ______ to the table." Instead, it seems to be "I'm the best candidate because he/she is worse." Yeah, that builds all kinds of confidence. The problem is that we seem to be trying to get 'better' laws to build on bad ones that were built on unnecessary laws in the first place. It's a lot like throwing good money after bad. That seldom works well. I believe that some amount of governance is necessary, but good Lord. Couldn't we just get back to the basics of the Constitution? Isn't that the road map that set the stage for our country to prosper and become both the greatest AND most powerful nation on Earth? It seems many of our elected officials stay focused on writing this law or that one in response to one or two specific situations - and usually when there was already another law to address the situation. They see it as showing people that they are doing something. I see it as making things more complicated when enforcement of the laws that already exist would have solved the problem in the first place. The Constitution is kind of like the original 10 Commandments (the Constitution for mankind if you will) in that it is a good basis that covers the important aspects of living in our nation...everything else is noise. Now I'll step off my soap box.

![]() | ....the country most of us old guys served, and grew up with, could disappear in the not too distant future. Jay, may your tribe increase! Unfortunately, early in our nation's history, we had true statesmen, but politicians slowly took over to the point that I cannot think of any current elected official whom I would call a statesman--such a person would find it essentially impossible to be elected! Now, politicians are being replaced by celebrities, with our current resident of the White House as the premier example. Jay, I'm afraid I agree: the United States will "fall" in the foreseeable future--perhaps, even sooner than we imagine. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's beyond repair. In another street interview, the question was asked "Who were the Allies in WWII" Answers ranged from Japan to China, from Germany and Viet Nam. Amazing!!!
