![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My 12 year old daugther now goes around asking people who they voted for. If they choose to tell her, and if someone tells her they voted for Obama, she responds, "Well then you are part of the problem with the country." if It's great that you teach your daughter the constitution and get her involved in thinking about politics...however what makes it ok for a child to deride an ADULT about what their politics are? Would it be ok for a child whose parents are Catholics telling ADULT Babtists they are why the country is in the shape it is? I'm all for teaching our kids what has made, and will continue to make our country great. I also think children have to be taught and reminded they need to show adults respect even if they hold different ideas than their parents. |

![]() ![]() | Thanks for all the reps and comments...Guys and Gals, we all gripe about it here but its up to us to teach our kids about THEIR future. Hopefully we can start to dig in our heels and get this insane train to stop but it will be them to put the USA back on a course that we need to be..... Buck

![]() ![]() ![]() | Thursday evening I was telling my oldest son (5 yo) about the birth of our country and he kept frowning whenever I mentioned Great Britain. Turns out he thought Great Britain was some guy that lived across the ocean. I just assumed he would magically know what it was. (my bad) I tell my kids about the true meaning of Christmas, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Easter as well as Independence Day and other subjects. I try to instill ‘pride of country’ in my kids but soon I’m going to have to tell them about slavery and the raw deal the American Indian got. ![]() Bucky

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My granddaughter (will be 10 on the 13th) came in and said: "Happy 4th of July". I responded: "Happy Independence Day". She looked at me like - Huh? I told her that we were celebrating the 233th birthday of our Declaration of Independence from an oppressive government. I know I'm going to have to "teach" her the truth about the history of our country. She's not getting it in school. I'm a school bus driver and I see it in all grade levels. No wonder there is such a great number of drop-outs. |

| God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy ![]() | I had tried to get my kids to listen to the Constitution and Declaration. They just wont listen. I keep trying though. Eventually they'll learn it. I'll have to ask more questions about what they learn in History next year though.
