 | Read my kids the Declaration of Independence... I have read the Declaration many times but the wife and I decided it was time to start a new tradition in the house. So last night after dinner we sat the kids down and read them the Declaration of Independence. I knew that 2 of them would have a hard time understanding it (age 7 and 9) but they thoughtfully listened, asked some interesting questions and overall enjoyed the time together. I figured with what they are not learning at school (My 14 y/o's history teacher this year tried to tell her that Pearl Harbor happened because the USN was out on "manuevers" WTF????) and the current political climate that it is important to let them know why we are the United States of America..  Does anyone else do this with your kids???
