Hoffman is a Republican, and has always identified with the Republican Party. Because the party officials in New York decided to go with Scozzafava, Hoffman ran with the Conservative Party because he believes in Conservative values. He's already stated he will caucus with the Republican Party if he wins this time around, and would most likely run as a Republican in the next election if he wins this special election.
Instead of trying to re-invent the wheel, why not take back the party most of us agree with it's basic tenets? Just because we allowed the weak and corrupt to have their hand at running things doesn't mean we give up and let them have the party completely without a fight. Right now, we have the momentum, and we are beginning to once again get conservative values recognized as the truth.
