![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | To All, The reason I don't believe Dede operated in a vacuum and why I believe the republican leadership at least gave some approval is because I have seen it happen. I think their believe is "Better to loose to a democrat than be undermined by an outsider." To run for congress you must be elected in a primary if you are a republican. To even get on the ticket you must be friendly with the party. Now the party is supposed to remain neutral in these things and let the best candidate win, but that isn't how it works in most cases. God forbid you want to run against a longtime elected official in either party. THEY have seniority! Sure, they'll allow someone who doesn't know what they are doing to run, that way the incumbent is easily reelected and the party can put on a bright and shiny face telling the public that democracy still rules the land. If, on the other hand, a real contender who is publicly known and has some money and clout wants to run the party will do everything they can to gently redirect this person toward another office so as not to undermine "their guy." Candidates do not operate in a vacuum. They are normally working within a democratic or republican machine that gives them support, and included in that a two way flow of information and opinions. If Dede truly did throw her support behind her democratic opponent without any consideration of her own party, then she is a complete moron that is throwing away any future support and credibility at the same time. I find it difficult to believe that the republican party machine of New York would have supported a complete moron for a federal seat. Just my opinion.
