Not to forget, we get a chance to fire those who voted this in next November.

Besides, it was really easy to figure tax in my head back when it was 5%.

If that's the case, wait for it to go up to 10%, and then it will be really easy to figure it.

Probably won't have to wait too long if the Pirate gets re-elected:rolleyesedit:

Gotta do the math! That measly 1% translates into a 16.6% tax increase.

I certainly hate it that it was Daniel's idea, but the state congress voted it in. Those are the one's you'd want to fire. They are also the one's that can't get their shit together on property taxes, thus the reason for the emotional "quick fix" which will never be undone.

But go ahead, put that Dem in there. She'll fix things the same way her buddies Bayh and Obannon did for 18 years, getting us into this mess in the first place.

Ok... I wasn't aware of the increase, and I asked several people, and everyone was surprised to learn that it had gone up. Nobody remembers hearing anything.

Anybody here have any clue as to how long we've been overpaying the State?

Thanks,

Maybe the Roman empire fell because nobody was paying attention.

State congress? You mean the General Assembly?

The responsibility for the property tax mess is the person in the mirror. If your local schools were not Taj Mahals and you did not fall for the knee-jerk nonsense of the "save the children" rubbish, we would not have property taxes or an increased sales tax.

Giving money to politicians is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

Thank you Kirk for the clarification.

You are absolutely right on the schools situation, although not this person in the mirror. Myself and a bunch of other tax payers successfully beat down an unnecessary proposed multimillion $ new school in our county.

The sad thing is that we pay our school administrators to do the best thing for the school and part of that is the "we must spend the money or it will go away" attitude. The way the system is now, a frugal administrator and school board is perceived as neglecting the children, letting $'s that could have come to the district go elsewhere.

The whole school money system is about as easy to understand as the tax code. I believe this is intentional, so that the average person is perplexed. The most noticable examples are the major building/remodeling expenitures, only to later lay off teachers (or threaten to) for lack of funding.

We need to have some politicians that will run on fixing this system and tie it to the property tax "crisis."
