Somehow I think he is personally aware of this fact.

What I don't understand is why isn't McCain bringing up the gun issue? Is he waiting for a debate? There are a lot of gun owners who still are supporting Obama, this could be one of the defining issues but nobody is bringing it up!
This is going to go over like a lead balloon. McCain sponsored 2 anti gun bills. Obama sponsored 0. More info here. John McCain -- GOA 2008 Presidential Candidates and the Second Amendment

Obama is without a doubt far more anti 2nd than McCain, however neither candidate has a good record so its really a losing issue for both parties. So they'll brush it under the rug.

Not that it really matters. Gun owners will still compromise their values and vote for the lessor of two evils.

We have a choice between:
Candidate A: has tried to make it clear that he will support our 2A rights. Yes his record is mixed.

or

Candidate B: has PLAINLY and clearly said he will support a permanent ban
on what would probably equate to any firearm deemed "not sporting" and
repeal provisions that inhibit gun traces (is it me or does that sound
like mandatory registration?)
Which means you'd have to change your member name to
"blackpowderjunkie" or "Rem700junkie"

I'd be compromising some of my values no matter who I voted for.
It just depends on the priority of your values.
The 2A is up there right around number 2 on my value list.

I'm not so sure Obama hasn't sponsored some gun control bills at the state/local level.
You know, the IL FOID card and chicago's wonderful laws.
It's hard to tell, he's done so little, except vote "present" when
a simple "yes or no" would suffice.

As Justus stated, it is nearly impossible to not compromise on some values when you vote for a President.

I have many values that are important to me. I'm not sure I will ever find for a candidate that shares all my values. I simply prioritize what is most important and try to figure out which candidate most closely matches.

This is something that those third party voters should thoroughly review before letting their vote default to an Obama victory. You are assuming that another AWB will be just like the last, with some work arounds and a sunset. The antis learned from their mistakes on that ban. They won't make them again. It will be all or nothing.

I have so little faith in our politicians that I have trouble accepting what they claim their position is on any issue.

My point was simply that both parties have voted for anti gun measures in the past. Maybe its more fair to say that McCain is less anti gun than obama, for whatever thats worth.
