Seller Backed Out...User: Big12Inch...

I wouldn't say this is a -1 or a +1, you can take from it what you will,

I was going to buy this:

Glock 17 for $350

I told him I would like to purchase and we agreed on a time/place, but he couldn't meet until Monday night, which was fine by me.

I ask why such a good price - out of curiosity......Seller tells me that ...he doesn't..."look at making $20 on a gun or losing $5 on a mag as a big deal.."

Then I get this msg a few hours ago.

"I had this gun up for sale on another site and last week a fellow sent me a pm and I marked the gun as sold...I did not hear boo from him for 3 days and thus I listed it on this board Wednesday...Well he came back from spring break with his kids and even though I can't say he was the best communicator I did tell him he could have it...he is alos paying $400 and lives 3 miles from my house...I want to be fair and I know we had a deal but I i did "jump the gun" and did not give him time to get back to me...I also feel somewhat like I owe this guy because he is paying a premium and I have done business with him in the past. I appologize but I am going to have to back out of our deal. Feel free to give me a -1...I know I probably would."

I guess I would expect this behavior from a larger site, but not from this one. Hopefully others don't go about business in this fashion.

Why put a gun for sale on this site, that has already sold on another? Secondly, why back out when a buyer is ready to purchase on the site you already made a decision to put it up on?

What bugs me the most is I came across another good deal, but didn't purchase because I already had committed funds to this seller - guess I should have just backed out?

I feel your pain. I was looking for a car mid-summer. Found the one I wanted. I called the guy at noon and setup looking at it later that day around 5. I'm in Indy he's in Columbus. I told him that I just wanted to check it out to make sure but 99% that I was going to get it. It was practically sold. I get a call around 3 saying "Sorry but I just sold it to a guy that said he wanted it a week and a half ago. I hadn't heard from him until now and he just showed up with cash." What an ahole.

Well that doesnt exactly sound like an ahole. What is the seller supposed to do? Some guy who showed up last week now shows up with cash, and he is supposed to turn him away on the basis that you MAY want it? I understand your point about being pretty sure you wanted it, but how much faith is the seller supposed to put in you? Let one sale go in order to show it to another guy who may decide against it? Of course I respect that you can have a different opinion, but I have to disagree. If the seller had committed to you and said he wouldnt sell it, well thats another thing... but its the cash that speaks. If you are so certain that you want the car, explicitly ask the guy to take it off the street. Not trying to piss you off, just my POV

Similar thing from this site with me but different seller. I commit to buying, suddenly he can't meet and now no contact. I'm standing by just in case something has happened. I always try to be a stand up guy so for now, I'm giving him the benefit of doubt.

When i sell anything..It's always first come first serve unless i get a deposit.I've had to many people call and say there comming to look at it but never show up. I hold for no one without a deposit and I sell to whoever produces the cash first.

The problem with "first come, first serve" is that no two people have the same schedule.

If I'm first to read the ad, and I say "I will buy it", but I don't get off work until 5pm, then the seller should wait.

If the third guy in line is OFF that day and says "I will be there in 20 minutes", then it seems a bit unfair.

Just my opinion though. I've been burned this way before, lol.

Okay so I get flamed early this morning by this guy and this afternoon he wants to do another deal...I guess I'm an ahole that has good stuff.
