This thread motivated me to try WSF and 231 with some 125 SNS coated RN. I worked up to about 130 PF from an OEM G17. I found the WSF a little more snappy on the recoil, low to no smoke and louder. W231 was softer shooting, not as loud, and the recoil was less sharp. It did smoke some but was less than TG. WSF also seemed cleaner but the standard deviation was higher. In summary W231 is a compromise between the characteristics of TG and WSF which makes sense based on these powders quickness.
4.7g WSF at 1.14 COL averaged 1060fps. 4.2g W231 at 1.16 COL averaged 1035 fps. In wonderfully mild February!
Sounds like I need to find some WSF and Win 231 to try out. Or sell the bullets. Not sure which way to go.
Not sure how many bullets you have in a "case". 500, 1000, 3500? But a pound of win231/HP-38 will load 1600 rounds. SNS has changed Bullet styles I believe and I guess I assumed your Bullets were coated. The newer styles don't have a lube groove. But 4.1-4.2 grains of powder at 1.125" should be about right for the classic Bullet style with a groove and shoulder.
