So I ran out of bullets and found an entire case of 125 LRN SNS hiding in my cabinet. What kind of loads are you guys using for this? I'm just lookin for an accurate load to make minor out of an M&P, G19, and G34. I'm thinking I've used Titegroup in the past and it was obnoxiously smoky.

I use 125g SNS over 3.8 TG 1.15 COL out of a G17 at 1040fps. It does smoke. I have tried Auto Comp wit a little less smoke. Several folks on the enos forum recommend W231. I accept the smoke because I like the bullet performance and price. If I shot indoors more I would change. The bullet ogive requires a shorter COL in some chambers.

I am loading bayou bullets and not SNS but I believe the coating is the same. 4.0-4.2 grains of Win231 will get you in the ballpark. I would reference the posts above for COAL. I loaded my LRN at 1.25"-1.35" but that is a different bullet.

This thread motivated me to try WSF and 231 with some 125 SNS coated RN. I worked up to about 130 PF from an OEM G17. I found the WSF a little more snappy on the recoil, low to no smoke and louder. W231 was softer shooting, not as loud, and the recoil was less sharp. It did smoke some but was less than TG. WSF also seemed cleaner but the standard deviation was higher. In summary W231 is a compromise between the characteristics of TG and WSF which makes sense based on these powders quickness.

What was the charge and OAL for 130 PF?

4.7g WSF at 1.14 COL averaged 1060fps. 4.2g W231 at 1.16 COL averaged 1035 fps. In wonderfully mild February!

Yeah 4.2 gr of Win231 under a 124 gr LRN Bayou Bullet at 1.125-1.135 gives me just shy of 135 PF. So that is about right.

Sounds like I need to find some WSF and Win 231 to try out. Or sell the bullets. Not sure which way to go.

Not sure how many bullets you have in a "case". 500, 1000, 3500? But a pound of win231/HP-38 will load 1600 rounds. SNS has changed Bullet styles I believe and I guess I assumed your Bullets were coated. The newer styles don't have a lube groove. But 4.1-4.2 grains of powder at 1.125" should be about right for the classic Bullet style with a groove and shoulder.

I have a case of 3500. The bullets are coated. These are goldish in color and do not have a lube groove.

So local shop as Win Autocomp, Win 296, Ramshot Silhouette, CFE Pistol, and Hodgkin HS-6. Any experience with any of these and coated lead?

Reviving older thread. I picked up a lb of CFE Pistol at Applied Ballistics in lafayette. From what I've read on BE forum, I'm going to try 4.4-4.7gr. Will be shot through a G34 with KKM barrel.

Another revival of an old thread. I'm shooting 125g coated SNS RN over 4.1g HP-38 in my G17, leading more than I like. It's easy enough to clean out with a chore boy, anyone else have the same issue with Glock barrels and SNS coated bullets?

I use Titegroup and noticed it is a little smokey especially compared to Clay's. Don't really understand the big deal about smokey or even dirty. I can still see the target and well I clean my gun anyway so it never seemed to be any kind of an issue.

I would say that I must be moving to fast to notice it out there. But then I thought again and realized I don't do anything fast.
