Atlanta Conservation Club is now affiliated with the Steel Challenge
Shooters Association (SCSA), the guys who put on the World Speed Shooting
Championship in Piru, California . . . So we can call the match Steel
Challenge instead of "Steel Match".

Saturday's weather :: LOOKS GOOD, finally-- , high temperature about 56º.
About 34º in the morning for set-up.

Nominal times:
8:00 set-up Bring gloves !!
9:00 to 9:40 sign-in
9:40 meeting
10:00 BANG AND CLANG

Stages to be fired:
RANDOM ACCESS, ( one of mine )
AS EASY AS CAN BE, ( one of mine )
AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE, ( OPTIONAL. For grudge matches, or fun, only ),
( one of mine )
FIRE AND ICE, ( one of mine )
EL SECRETARIO DEL DEFENSO, ( an alteration of the standards "El Presidente"
or "El Vice Presidente" )


Bring about 200+ rounds of ammo per entry - - - (Minimum round count = 100
rounds)


GUN OF THE MONTH :: .22 TACK DRIVER. ( Just a suggestion . . . you don't
have to enter this Category. It is a, "Hey - Let's all shoot our . . .
guns this month!!" kind of idea)


Categories are:

Production; Double action and "Safe action". All GLOCKs, Beretta 92, SIG
229, 226 . . .
Limited; Single action 1911's with IRON sights, no compensators.
Springfield XDs (because the striker is FULLY reset after each shot).
Open; Anything goes (semi-automatic).
Carbine; CF PISTOL calibers, ANY sights NO MAGNUM CALIBERS.
Rimfire Optic; .22LR, OPTIC sights. Pistol.
Rimfire Iron; .22LR, IRON sights. Pistol.
Rimfire Rifle; .22LR, ANY sights. Rifle.
Revolver; for all revolvers, IRON sights.
GSSF; Production guns, but WITHOUT the holster.


$10 each gun/entry. ($5 off for active military)


NOTE ::
ACC IS A COLD RANGE. DO NOT "GUN-UP" IN, OR AT, YOUR CAR --- USE THE SAFE
AREAS, PREFERABLY WITH AN R.O., OR JUST WAIT UNTIL THE FIRST STAGE.
You can load magazines anywhere EXCEPT THE SAFE AREAS :: but DO NOT remove
your gun from its box or bag until you are on the line, ready to compete.
(Or you are at one of the SAFE AREAS, with an R.O. :: For example - if you
need to verify function, or clean something.)

How was the match? I have never shot steel, and I wanted to go. Unfortunately, I didn't make it this time around...

The match was great, some of the smallest steel I have seen but fun. It started off kinda cool but warmed up quick. I would guess close to fifty shooters.

Are tactical shotguns allowed at ACC Steel matches?

No, but tactical spit ball straws are.

I'm pretty sure that any safe and servicable firearm would be allowed. In your case, you'd be limited to shooting bird shot - no slugs or buck.

Sweet! I just had a rail put on my spit ball straw with a laser and a vertical foregrip....

I guess I should have said hi-cap instead of 'tactical' as opposed to O/U, etc. I didn't know if shotguns were allowed at all. I've been to rifle ranges that don't allow shot so I didn't know if it would be allowed shooting steel plates or not... Are there any hard rules about shooting shotguns? Are sidesaddles allowed? How are reloads performed, etc? If I go watch one will anyone be shooting a shotgun so I can get an idea?
