| International Pistol @ MCF&G May 2nd. NEW SHOOTERS WELCOME !!!! On Saturday, May 2nd, '09 Marion County Fish & Game wil be hosting the 1st in a series of International Pistol Shoots. These matches are sanctioned by the Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association. There are 4 or 5 of these held over the course of the Spring/Summer...usually one per month. This is a very "new shooter friendly" match. 1st match is 6 - 10 shot strings fired 1 handed at 50 yds with a .22 rimfire. (60 rounds total)...some use "free pistols", others of us use Ruger MKI-II-III , S&W's or whatever. 2nd Match is 20 rounds Slow Fire @ 25 yds 20 Rounds Timed Fire @ 25 yds (5 shots in 20 sec; 4 times) 20 Rounds Rapid Fire @ 25 yds (5 shots in 10 sec; 4 times) This match again uses 60 rounds of .22. Any .22 semi-auto or revolver will work if it'll hold 5 rounds. Match 3 is called "centerfire", it's again 60 rounds, but now you use a centerfire pistol of LESS THAN .40 Cal. You see alot of S&W .38 wheelguns, Colt Pythons, and 9mm semiautos in this match. All 60 rds shot @ 25yds, all one handed. 30 rds precision slow fire (6 - 5 shot strings; 5 min per string). 30 rds in "duel"; which means 5 shots per string - the target is "edged", then faces you for 3 sec, then edges for 7 sec, then faces you for 3 sec... and so on till you've fired 5 rds...then repeat till all 30 rds are gone. It's a fun day of shooting and all you need is a .22 and something else short of .40 cal...Heck if you wanna just try it out I'm sure they'd let you use bigger than a .40 just to try the sport out. Cost is 20 or 25 bucks, can't recall exactly, shootin' starts at 9am, be there about 8-8:30am... A spotting scope and a staple gun would be good too. They take about an hour lunch break- bring your own lunch or fast food is close by. It's fun to see how you improve your scores over the summer- I don't know of a single shooter that didn't IMPROVE over the course last year! |
