Idea for FNS

I had just typed this in another thread and it was locked before I posted. Maybe that is a sign my idea sucks?

Anyway.........I have an idea for FNS and I think it fits the spirit of it too

In the womens forum a member has posted he wants help for his wife to select a handgun. Many people also want to "check out" FNS before they jump in.

A stand alone stage is set up. Static plates only, nothing elaborate. There is a table with some handguns, shotguns maybe a cheap PCR like a Keltec. A shooter could sign the release etc...pay a small fee, pay for ammo or bring suggested brand/caliber of ammo. It is a chance to try different types or calibers of weapons. See how a stage works, further check out the club and FNS.

Just a thought. Yes I would be willing to help. My hope is my GF will too but she has to be an expert before she will want to train anyone, if at all.

I can see doing this as a separate event, but probably not at FNS itself; too much to try to manage this AND 60+ shooters on 5 stages at the same time. MHO, of course, and nobody asked me.

I assumed he meant on a night other than a FNS night.... If I was incorrect, then I still support the idea, just not on a FNS night.

Yeah I saw that. On a side note, at one time or another all mods suck but I forgive them for being wrong.

I did say FNS, but only as a way to start the conversation. If we all agree then someone is redundant! Maybe do it quarterly? I even tell MCFG members at the indy 1500 about FNS all the time. Good way to drag out kids.

Gotta go train some newbs at work now, I will check back tomorrow.

I think this is a great idea. Maybe use it as a membership drive opportunity.

Atlanta does something similar to this, but on a weekend day where no other events are being held. You'll get more traffic on a weekend than a Friday night.

Did Atlanta do this for 3 gun? Seems now like I recall seeing that not long ago?

We did an "open house", there were stages for just about everything. Gun safety, USPSA, IDPA, ICORE, Multi Gun (actually there was a shotgun stage, then a rifle stage), Steel, probably a few I am forgetting. It was a good time.

We will be doing it again next year. Hopefully in the spring.
