Breakdown: Three Tons of Food Looted From Grocery Stores In Spain As Millions Struggle « InvestmentWatch

"Social safety nets across the continent are visibly under stress and breaking down, so much so that unemployed Spaniards have begun raiding supermarkets in order to put food on the table. As recently as last month the people of Cadiz and Sevilla, which have a reported unemployment rate of 32%, joined together to loot local grocery stores of three tons of food - some of which was distributed to local food banks.
Those same people who would have laughed in your face five years ago had you told them the economy was going to collapse and their country would be facing a massive debt default that would leave the majority of their population in poverty – those same people are rumaging through garbage cans in the hopes they can find some bread, rice and vegetables to put on their dinner tables.
    This is reality."

Do not think it can not happen here.It can and it will.

Spain: Unemployed raid supermarkets en masse

The Spanish field workers union the SAT has gone en masse to two supermarkets to take food by direct action.

Unemployed fieldworkers and other members of the union went to two supermarkets, one in Ecija (Sevilla) and one in Arcos de la Frontera (Cadiz) and loaded up trolleys with basic necessities.

In Arcos the police blocked the doors of the supermarket and prevented them from leaving, but in Ecija, due to other demonstrators creating a diversion, they managed to leave with twenty trolleys of food.

The foodstuffs have been given to charities, who say they are unable to cope with all the requests for help they receive.

Unemployment in the Sierra de Cadiz is now 40%.

Apparently it is so bad mayors have been leading raids. It is hard to find figures, but I have read of at least 20 different grocery store raids in the last month. They are even raiding gardens. Not a few people but hundreds.

Just sent this to a family member who is going to Spain and Italy! I think they leave Friday or Saturday, but it might be next week. By then, things will have calmed down..................

How far would you go to feed your family? Hopefully never have to find out, since we are prepping to be self sufficient, but you never know.......

So many mouths, so few are ready. To much attention to the latest phone or shoes. Game boys and X-box. No reality taught or learned.

How far....as far as you can.

there will be those that have. and those that want. the wants will do whatever it takes to "have" like you said. any setup for self sustainability needs to be subtle imo.

Many who are wiser than I have posted of the Gray man approach to survival. We as a family and a group are changing our tactics in favor of this. Keep a low profile, do not flaunt what you have and as my kids say....keep it on the down low..

This is a trigger point to watch for. The Euro model of Gov. that our politico's seem to be steering us towards is failing right before our eyes.
