![]() ![]() ![]() | Historicly, Hams have been pressed into service as long as the Hobby/Service has been around. I call it a Service rather than a hobby, even though we may be happily Communicating with our neighbors or with others around the world,( in the mean time making new friends and having a ball) we are testing & optimizing & understanding what our limitations & abilities truly are. Practicing for whenever we may need to be pressed into service. Every Ham I've ever known is a volunteer and would be more than willing to help in any situation

Something to get started with and move up into your $400 unit later. Basically looking for basic, portable, but able to be used to study for the tests and get feet wet with. Please advise.

But as far as I know, you must take the tests in person.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | So I just ordered all 3 ARRL books, 1 is getting sent here, and the latter 2 or getting sent to the house. I want to read up on it while i'm here before leave in January. Hey Lars, any chance you can give me the test to get my technicians License in mid-January. Then I'll read up on the other 2 for the last 7 months I'm here and take those tests upon return to the states. |
