Added a butane stove similar to this onethis one and a case (12 bottles) of fuel for emergency cooking inside the house, from GFS. Also bought two gallons of Coleman Fuel for the old two burner Coleman camp stove.

Put up 28 gallons of emergency water in the basement, with a 6 month rotation date, in 4 seven gallon jugs.

Be sure to ventilate if you use that stove inside. (Sneaky death)

According to the store, the Butane is made to used inside. They use it for catering and other functions. It is supposedly no different that running a burner on a gas stove. The Coleman camp stove is another mater all together. This is part of why I purchased the Butane in addition to the Coleman. If I need to cook inside without announcing the presence of someone in the home, during some SHTF situation, the butane will allow that.

Now with some searching, I'm seeing some butane stoves with a Carbon Monoxide warning. Hmm... I'll have to look more into that before I have to test it. We have a screened in patio where most cooking would take place in a grid down situation. Something to keep in mind. My CO detector won't work with no power.

Thanks! That is some VERY usefull info about the stove. I like that idea. (It WOULD be a "witch" (misspelled) if one has to cook outside in the winter - esp. in SHTF situation)
Thanks again for the correction.

-Purchased several types of quik clot for my first aid kits
-updated the epi pen's
-three cases of mre's
-three scepter 5 gallon jerry cans for gas(2) and diesel(1)-plus two - pouring spouts. Pricey-but worth it. Ordered them from Canada without any problems
shot 500 rounds of ammo and purchased 800 more.
-purchased oil, filters and air filters for three oil changes on each of my cars
purchased enough food for the dogs to last three months
realized I need to mark my stored food-bought sharpies and mark the food with a date code at the store so I don't forget. I liked the look the older lady at Kroger gave me.

Where did you order your jerry cans? I've been looking for a couple for spare gas to have at the house.

I have started to garden. First garden in years last year and expanded this year. I bought six chicks back in the spring and just started getting eggs. I want to try and prepare to become self sufficent for the long haul. I have thought about building a still for years in order to produce fuel, not to drink. A stock pile if one thing. Being prepared to live through the long haul without going to town is another.

pep boys sells a nice but cheaper version for $20

The real deal scepter cans can be purchased from dstactical.com - they are in canada. You can't get them anymore in the USA

$49 per can and about $30 for the spout. Very good stuff! So good the wife is mad at me and went shopping when she saw how much I spent for gas cans!

she is very happy now
