| God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy ![]() | Note To Mods: If this thread is out of line in anyway feel free to delete or close. I'm simply wondering what you could possibly use bullets for if you had no guns to shoot them with. The scenario is intended ONLY to give the poster no option to use the bullets with their intended tool. The Year is 2020, and the US has been "invaded" by "UN" Troops and Mercs. Sort of Red Dawn, but more "Blue Dawn: The UN Invasion". You are out in the mountains far from the fighting but also far from civilization, minus a few scurmishes here and there with (Insert Fear Here). Somewhere along the line your gun was damaged beyond repair. Maybe the bullet blew up the gun, was damaged by grenade, what have you. Maybe though half the barrel or less is still intact. The point is, you have 2000K rounds or more of (Pick your caliber boolit) and no gun to shoot it with. You have no other guns, no parts, no way to shoot the boolits. DANG IT!So now the question remains: What to do with all these bullets? What could you possibly use them for? Starting cooking/camp fires? Explosives? Could you saw the remaining part of the barrel off and use them anyway one at a time? Don't ask me where this come from, but the thought popped in my head about what could I possibly use boolits for if I didn't have a gun to shoot them with and it was a survivalist situation. ![]() I know, I know, I'm weird. I'm sorry.

| wheelman for hire ![]() | maybe land mines of some sort? take bullets out, pour powder into hollowed out piece of wood, set case/primer into hole in side, and have some way to hit the primer to ignite it? Just a thought. Not sure about how to do the part with hitting the primer hard enough. But it may be possible also grenades of some sort? Just not sure what to use as a fuse

Manufacturing a Zip gun to fire smooth bore is far easier than producing modern primers or modern pressure powders. Do a google search on "expedient homemade firearms" and you will see what I mean. And if you do not have the tools or metals to do those kinds of things, the bag of bullets is the least of your concerns. More than likely you are trying to take deer with a long stick that has a rusty kitchen knife tied to the end. Hold on, I can actually imagine you in that fighting position...

It's a little late for mine to be doing so. See what happens when a guy only gets 4 hours of sleep a night and he starts thinking crazy things like this? It's a BAD thing. My brain could explode. ![]() Quote:
Hmm. Hope you don't smack the primer on a rock or something whilst throwing your "rocks"... Quote:

| wheelman for hire ![]() | Oooh oooo I know how to do the striker setup for the mines now. Or at least an idea. Do a tripwire that leads to a release that is holding a screw or something hard metal just started into the hole in line to hit the primer, and have it under a high tension. So that when the trip wire is hit it will release the screw, nail, etc. and strike the primer to cause it to blow. And if you want some more shrapnel effect maybe put some small pebbles inside the cavity or on top of the piece of wood as well.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Potassium nitrate (also known as saltpeter) is used in some fertilizer. I heard of people throwing out old powder and it acts as fertilizer. OR do like the guy on "SHOOTOUT" did. Grab a handfull between your fingers, stick your hand in a fire and shoot the bad guy when the fire sets the rounds off. I saw it in the movie it has to work.
