![]() ![]() ![]() | I think the 1999 would be a good year, you have the non-disconnect front axles, a Dana 30 high pinion front end and the Corporate 8.25 rear end. You have the 231 transfer case, and your still compatible mechanically with more XJ's then not. Your body is different (changed in 1997), but there is still alot of those XJ's out there. So I guess what I'm saying it would be a good buy if everything specfic to that vehicle is good. There is a book out there, XJ Book, by Eric Zappe, that is pretty good and answers alot of questions specific to XJs. Gotta say, I love mine...I have 2-3" lift, and run 30" BFG AT's...I'd have gone 31" but didn't have money to mess with gearing. Good luck, they're great vehicles. There is also another site to check out Gojeep Home Page, aguy down in Australia who does alot of his own stuff.
