![]() ![]() | An important prepper skill, marksmanship training I think marksmanship training is about prepping as much as any skill. I attended an Appleseed training Oct 31- Nov 1 in KY Day 1: Cold and wet laying on the ground and loving it. I just finished day 1 of the Appleseed training in Carrollton KY. The training is put on, and the instructors are, a non-profit group call RWVA (appleseed.com) They say you're either a rifleman or a cook. Well I spent most of this first day shooting like a cook. In my defense I know two things about guns, 1) how to buy them 2) how to point them down range and pull the trigger. Since I just started learning about and shooting handguns and rifles spring of 2008 I had, have, a long way to go to become proficent in the use of a rifle. However on day 1 at this training I found I was a better shot then I expected being very capable of grouping shots, and that with a borrowed rifle that jamed every 2 or 3rd rounds. Day 2: Sucked at the beginning of the day but came out qualifying at the US Army Marksman level in timed testing. I'm going to be spending more time at the range now that I've developed some profency at shooting.. One last thing, training on how to use a rifle is as important of a skill a prepper can have as any skill or prep. I'm glad I have started on this journey. _________________ insidethebunker.... keep your head down and periscope up.. |
