![]() ![]() ![]() | Couples Training/Family Training Not wanting to Hi-Jack Annies thread I thought that this subject might also need to be thrown up. Who offers the training and who would be interested in taking couples or family training. What is out there and available where? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ACT will be rolling out some new products in the early spring. among them will be both "shooter pair" and family oriented training. the pairs training will be more active shooter oriented and the family training more tactic and procedure training. currently, should you want some couple training or family training, it would be more private instruction oriented, but feel free to contact rhino or myself, either pm or through our website. we've built some time into the class that will be offered on 06DEC08 so we can address issues such as a carrying couple. you might consider signing up for the DP 102(c) class.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As far as "big names" go, Thunder Ranch has an excellent team tactics class. Many of the instructors/schools will have such training available, but it will typically be oriented toward police officers. Any individual program may be more or less pertinent you own situation.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have done some local classes for husbands and wives. I also did a few classes recently that were all fathers and sons and grandfathers and grandsons. During my tenure at Tactical Response I have many, many married couples, siblings or parents and children in classes together. Do you have an idea of what you want from your training? Basic safety? Marksmanship? Defense?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Pretty close to what rhino said. I would like the focus to not be on improvement of marksmanship (which is why I mentioned low/no shoot), but on evaluation and development of sound family defense tactics in and around the home and vehicles. I think, this should generate some interest among members since finding a babysitter for one day is likely feasible and spouses who may be timid or not interested in firearms will likely be more willing to take the class knowing that other spouses will be there.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would recomend Appleseed as a start. That way the younguns can get the basics that can be used in any situation. I know I have my self, wife, daughter and son signed up for DWII Nov 8-9. Oh and women and kids shoot free too. |

| Expert ![]() | Quick plug for Appleseed. One of the great things is how safety oriented they are. It creates a set of actions that you really are able to remember. Our leader was "The Guy" and he did it as a song: Safeties on...mags out... bolts back... flags in... It creates good habits in young shooters.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I know LMS Defense offers a class specifically tailored to couples working in concert. I've been toying with a specific class for that myself, but haven't gotten off my duff to get it put together. If Shay get's something going, I'm in (unless you need some help in which case, pipe up I'm there for you). Tinman.... |
