| 'Tis but a flesh wound! ![]() | I keep wanting to go to a "real" shooting school, but as of right now I've taken a couple NRA Personal Protection classes, and some tactical style training with a couple local instructors. Mostly pistol but some shotgun also.

![]() ![]() ![]() | So, we're doing gun stuff and martial arts? Gun stuff: Gunsite, Thunder Ranch (multiple courses, multiple weapons), Shootrite, Chapman Academy, NRA Personal Protection Class, Boone County pistol course, LFI, Ken Hackathorn, Chuck Taylor, Louis Awerbuck (carbine, shotgun and pistol), and THE Pat Rogers, inter alia (have taken hard to categorize classes such as "Doc Gunn's" trauma class). Most recently Triad (2 days each of carbine, pistol and shotgun) with Clint Smith at Shootrite in Langston, Alabama. Try to do two or three courses a year with guns. Martial arts: Wing Chun Kuen, Ip Man family, Siu Yuk Men sigung; Seven Star Praying Mantis Boxing, Won Hun Fun Clan (Hong Kong), Chung family, 4 methods of boxing (hitting, kicking, wrestling, throwing), emphasis on long (staff, spear) and short (saber, straight sword) weapons; our club "specializes" in qin na ("seize and control"), i.e. "joint locks", under Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, White Crane/Long Fist/Taijiquan, formerly of Boston (who has now moved to California to train full time). Have also done numerous seminars in FMA (Modern Arnis mostly). Studied briefly both FMA (Eskrima) and BJJ (Machado). Attended a couple of knife seminars with IMA/FMA teacher Steve Tarani. |
