INGO Training Day: Saturday June 14, 9AM-5, Eagle Creek Pistol Range, Indianapolis

I'm a life-long student of different fighting arts, an NRA pistol instructor (and life member) and an instructor for Tactical Response. I have hundreds of hours of firearms training and several instructor-level classes. I run the day-to-day operations of Tactical Response (www.TacticalResponse.com) as the President of the company as well as frequently teach Fighting Pistol, Advanced Fighting Pistol, Fighting Rifle, Advanced Fighting Rifle and The Fight – Force on Force Scenarios classes all over the US. I am certified to teach several states’ concealed carry classes. Lastly, I’m an armorer for several weapon systems.

Course Description:

Indiana does not require training to receive your handgun carry permit; a policy I strongly agree with. Training should not be required to own or carry a gun but it is the responsibility of the gun owner to find training that fulfills the 3 R’s – recent, relevant and realistic. The problem is that because it is not required there are plenty of gun owners in this state that will never take a single training class. The sad truth is they are ill-prepared for the realities of before, during and after the fight.

This class is what I think a one day CCW class should be. It is a primer to prepare you to justifiably defend yourself with a pistol. On the range we will drill shooting and combative techniques from 0 to 15 feet and in the classroom we will discuss concealed carry techniques, marksmanship, tactics and legal issues. We will shoot on the move. We will shoot from a variety of positions. I promise to challenge both novice and more advanced shooters.

Course equipment list:

• An open mind
• Pistol (I have rentals if necessary)
• 350 rounds of ammo
• 3 or more pistol magazines
• Strong-side OWB or IWB holster
• Sturdy belt
• Ear and eye protection
• Snacks, water and a lunch
• Weather appropriate clothing (we’ll train rain or shine)

Time and Location:

9 AM until 5 with a break for everyone to grab some lunch. There are plenty of local restaurant options within 5 minutes of the range.
