![]() ![]() | Okay, I didn't really work out on 7-3, but I did get in about 5 miles of fast rucking over broken terrain during an Evasion and Escape exercise. I hit Roush reservoir and practiced an E&E scenario. I had to cover 2 miles with my gear, and hit certain points. I also built a stealthy shelter, practiced a nearly smokless fire, set up comms, drew out my range card, foraged for food, treated water, and set up perimeter security. I also built a raft and practiced water crossing in a swamp. On the second phase I went to the range with Britton and another good buddy and shot precision rifle out to 300 meters. I also wacked steel at 300 with my AK using iron sights. Ditto for my AR with a no-name 4x20 scope. But the bolt guns made it too easy. Finished the training with dinner, gun cleaning and off to bed in a hammock outside in the trees. All bedding taken from the same pack I used on my E&E drill. Pics: ![]() Gear: AK, pack and chest rig. I had my G19, spare mags, light, survival kit etc on me. ![]() Load out. Heavy on unpleasant leave behinds like OC blast and pocket CS. ![]() Lunch. Water from the creek, treated, and Viatalyte, some raspberries, field corn and a Cliff bar. Mmmm. ![]() Here is my hide/shelter. It is about 30 feet away, middle of the pic. ![]() This is where I did my water crossing. Nasty, but this is EXACTLY the kind of place I 'd go to if I was E&Eing. This is also the kind of place I would strike from, for the same reasons. If you don't practice here, when it is GO time, you won't perform here. ![]() Long range, precision goodness. It was a great day of training. Similar to regular survival training, but many differences. Being careful and leaving no trace makes everything take longer. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Great job! Do you construct the shelter so you can fire from it when approached from the direction perusers are most likely to come? Or do you rely on your perimeter alarm to alert you then you move into position?
