(CC1) Length: three days (30+ hours) Course Description: The Combative Carbine (CC1) is an intensive 3-day course that will introduce the combative fundamentals for the tactical employment of a carbine in high-risk settings. It is structured with extended range sessions and high repetitions to strengthen proper technique and broaden conditioned responses. Graded evolutions throughout the course provide instant feedback to the student on skill development and overall ability. The linear progressive training exercises build upon solid basics in order to progress to more advanced skills, which demand more ability from the student. Terminal Objective: Upon completion of the Combative Carbine (CC1) course the student will successfully pass with a 70% or better on the standards performance test using a service carbine with combat optics or iron sights firing duty ammunition. (Qualifying scores start with a Marksman score of 70%, a Sharpshooter score of 80% and an Expert score of 90% or better on the performance standards test.) Enabling Objectives: Upon completion of this course of instruction, the student will be able to demonstrate and understanding of the course material through verbal discussion and/or correct performance of the following tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP). 1. Demonstrate safe weapons handling skills, nomenclature and manual of arms for the carbine. 2. Demonstrate knowledge of basic carbine equipment and individual combat equipment. 3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of tactical safety procedures. 4. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of sight in procedures and point blank zero. 5. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Combat Shooting System™. 6. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of anatomical target zones, external and terminal ballistics. Mature fighting skills to achieve an optimum balance of accuracy and speed. 9. Perform ready position training exercises. 10. Perform pistol transition training exercises. 11. Perform immediate action and remedial action training exercises. 12. Perform shooting on the move training exercises. 13. Perform multiple threat training exercises. 14. Perform use of cover training exercises. 15. Perform low light training exercises. 16. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of weapons maintenance procedures, field cleaning techniques and weapons diagnostic process. Basic gear list: Tactical carbine (with tactical sling and close combat optic) Serviceable pistol 2,100 functional rounds of carbine and 100 rounds of pistol ammunition 5 carbine magazines minimum & 3 pistol magazines minimum 5 inert carbine training rounds (no A-Zooms) Training uniform (ball cap and gloves) 1st Line gear (rigid belt, sturdy holster, magazine pouches, flashlight pouch, multi-tool pouch and dump pouch) Handheld flashlight Multi-tool Clear wrap around ballistic eye protection and ear protection Hydration system and energy snacks Weapons cleaning kit and quality lubrication Training Schedule: Training Day One: AM: Classroom…Basic carbine equipment, ballistics lecture and range safety brief. Range…Manipulations skills & dry practice, Combat Shooting System™, sight in procedures and standards test. (CC1) Lunch PM: Range…Ready positions, multiple rounds drills, diagnostic drills, speed drills, pistol transitions, malfunctions clearances, combat reloads, threat neutralization drills and zero confirmation. Training Day Two: AM: Range…reduced target zone drills, battery tests, timed ready position drills, multiple threats, back-up iron sight zero and down optics drills Lunch PM: Range…Speed drills, use of cover, TRICON warm up, pivots/turns, standard positions, magazine exchange drills, timed ready drills and zero confirmation. Training Day Three: AM: Range…dry fire practice, diagnostic drills, timed ready drills, shooting on the move, battery test, weak side shooting and precision drills. Lunch PM: Range…Speed drills, non-standard positions, battle drills, Modified Navy Qualification, standards test. Classroom…debrief, lessons learned and closing comments.
