![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Why shoot rifles this way? I have noticed for a little while now, that there seems a change in shooting style on semi auto guns. I don't understand why someone would shoot this way. So I guess my question is, what's the reason for the way the forward hand is placed on the rifle with the thumb wraped around the top of the gun? Is it a better way to control a full auto versus a Semi? or just a new shooting style? Or have I just been blind to it and its a very common style that hase a very distinct perpose? Thanks! Heres the pick (stolen from another thread ):![]()

That said, Chris Costa (the guy in the pic) uses the most exaggerated form of this style that I've seen. He opines that this is basically the Modern Isoceles pistol stance, stretched out to accommodate a long gun. He utilizes it consistently and VERY effectively, but it does require that the gun be set up to accommodate - typically by having a longer forearm with the top and side devoid of accessories, to allow the off-side arm to be extended. ![]() KAC SR-25 Carbine ![]() Highly modified 5.56 AK ![]() Knight's LMG

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ahh I knew there was a good reason behind it. Have you/others here use it with any success? Should it be a normal procedure? Once again, Thanks Shooter521 for your help!!

![]() As to whether it should be SOP for you, my only advice is to try it and see if you benefit from it.

The real point of those were for the KAC PDW to keep your hand behind the muzzle. But turned around they work well as a index point instead of a full size vfg. | |
