With double stack guns and anything with smaller diameter bullets, it's a lot easier to rip the mag without locking the slide to the rear, but you know that.

I like Todd G. Hell of a shooter and seems to be a good instructor. This idea just seems too... "gamey." Even for the games.... -rvb | ||

If so, yeah, he is a hell of a shooter. I'd do a class with him if he came to Indiana. You also make an excellent point about the number of rounds in the magazine. Especially with a gun with super lightweight mags (like a Glock), I'm not confident that something like what is described (and again I can't watch the video) would be successful with only a couple of rounds in it. Inertia can be your friend, but only if there's enough of it when you need it! Hah!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I tried it a bit just last weekend actually! Well, to be honest, it is quick when you get a hang of it. I was ditching the mag though.Another issue in my mind: If I am in the heat of a situation, I don't think I would be taking the time to see what kind of malfunction I have. The Glock click-snap, no bang. Crap. What do I do? Tap Rack Bang. Nothing. Okay. Rip, cycle, reload. Bang. But all this time spent going through a ceremony of actions could mean a dead Vern (wait wait, isn't that the point? )When I look at it from a tactic standpoint, I think, while longer than tap rack bang, it could serve as an "end all" malfunction drill (or the beginning of one) as it would clear essentially any malf. Unfortunately, it takes MUCH longer compared to a tap rack (and I am fairly quick with those). I am in a quandry... help? ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | All of the extended malfunction clearance methods for double feeds and worse (actual jams) are a last resort in my opinion, if you don't have another functional weapon, then you have to fix what you have. It takes as long as it's going to take, and a whack/rack/back (aka tap rack bang) isn't going to fix a double feed or failure to extract. This is yet another reason why carrying at least two guns is a really good idea.
