![]() | 4H Instructor looking for ideas Hey guys. Looking for some ideas here. I will be starting up the pistol program in Steuben county 4H again next winter. It will be kids ranging from 9 up to teens. We will be shooting air pellet pistols most of the year, but I am hoping to be able to get a few .22 pistols that the club can use. The main problem is kids get bored. They can't shoot paper every meeting. So, I want to have some fun with it. We will be shooting lit candles and swinging targets, but I still need more ideas! The pellet shoots are indoors, but I am putting a range in at my place. If anyone has any ideas on things to try, please let me know. ![]() |

Water jugs filled with colored water. Start at the top, and only shoot at the water. Your target constantly gets smaller.

![]() | If you have a place that the mess will not damage, paint balls are a fun reactive target for a pellet gun kinda small, but very satisifying when you finally hit one. Get some of those extra large diameter drinking straws, drill the same size holes about 2 inches apart in a 2x4, (make the board as long or short as you like), stick one end of the straw in the hole, and set a paint ball on the other end. 3 layers of close weave carpeting hung over a frame makes a good back stop. Straws that are hit can easily be replaced, and one of those cheap plastic tarps on the ground will help -w- clean up. wolfman 4-H ML Instructor |
