It also puts you close enough to whisper in their ear that if they don't settle down you'll drop them on their head and make them bleed. Lifting someone from the ground with their arms pinned tends to limit their options if you are capable of doing it. I'm not concerned about having it done TO me, though. Anyone who could bearhug me, lift me from the ground, and throw me is someone against whom I have no chance without a weapon. ![]()
