| Marksman | Sorry, I don't like the idea of a secret gun in the house. So friends bring their kids over and you are out of the house. No one knows they need to worry about a pistol under your mattress or in the back of your closet, I don't think I need to draw much of a picture there. I never kept mine secret from my little ones. They knew where they were, knew they were loaded and never touched them. I took them out shooting when they were little and they were scared to death of them. |

![]() ![]() | I think "his house, his rules" would be the only way to go. I would be more interested in seeing what his thinking is in depth. Some people seem to be completely unable to imagine taking another life. While I don't understand it, I must respect it because it is their opinion. Sneaking a gun in is not the way to go. Too many possibilities that might have consequences that you won't like. One that comes to mind is you not being there, an invasion happens and they use YOUR weapon to kill your parents. Not a good thought....

Of course an underhanded secret would be a GREAT way to repay the people who have sheltered you, fed you, clothed you, educated you... Yeah, I'm starting to re-think my whole position. NOT.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You've gotten good advice here. His house, his rules. You may have good reasons for living where you do; maybe you're saving up now so you CAN move out, I don't know. I think it's a fair bet that even if you DO try to hide your gun in his house, he will know, even if you say nothing to anyone, ever. Think back about 15 years: Were you ever really able to pull anything over on him? Anything big? Ever able to pull it off for long? C'mon, he's your father, he's known you since you were born! Now... you are 21... so while he has every right to say what comes into his house and on his property, if you own your own car, (and by that I mean that you make all payments, only your name is on the title, you buy the insurance, gas, maintenance, and such, AND that car never comes into his driveway or his garage, he has no right to tell you that you cannot own a gun and keep it there. If you do this, he may still take exception; he won't be correct, but it's still his house and it may quickly no longer be your home! Additionally, you run the risk of either your car being burglarized or just being stolen, and your gun falling into criminal hands, but you DO have the right to choose what you buy and when. IMHO, waiting till you have your own place (which should probably be soon!) is probably best. My advice in a nutshell? Choose wisely. Blessings, B |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dad's house = Dad's rules. If you respect him, then you'll respect his wishes. When you have a place of your own, you'll have your own rules, and those can include "guns in EVERY room".
