Dog VS Human life.

Its as simple as that.
Well the point is the officer didn't handle the situation very well at all. I don't cop bash ever, I jump on people for doing so, but I will say that officer messed up. It's obvious that the officer ddin't have to be anywhere else so he cannot say he had more important things to deal with. The stop took 20 minutes. At the least the officer should have escorted them. I mean there is a dog in the back seat, visually in need of help, so he takes 20 minutes for a ticket.. Like Bigum said, if you want to write the ticket, atleast do it once they have made it to the vet. Very poor officer discretion.

About it being just a dog, some people cannot have children. I know a very nice couple who cannot have kids. They DO have a dog which they treat like their child. The dog got very sick last year and needed surgery and it also needed its hips replaced and they dropped something like $15,000 or more on "their baby". To them the dog is their kid and they will do what ever it takes to keep her happy and well.

Well as any LEO can tell you an officer has a lot of leeway on traffic stops. And since I can sit back and armchair quarterback he should have handled it better. There's a lot more to LE than writing tickets.
It's called helping people.

Still, the officer could have escorted the dog owner to the vet at a more reasonable speed, and then written the ticket - while the dog was being treated.

That cop was a dbag. Some of you are acting like he was driving 120mph + when he was going under 100mph. I would do the same for my dog, but i would be going well over 100mph, as long a the road dictates.

i got my fox terrier at an animal shelter 9 months before my daughter was born. my daughter is now 3 /12 years old. technically, my dog "cruiser" is my first born. he is well behaved, eats all the time, sleeps between my legs, always happy to see me, never talks back. he is my first born son, and i'll be damned if i'm gonna stop for some officer if he is getting ready to die from an unforseen accident. BUT...i wouldn't be driving aggresively like that. my pup had pneumonia one week and his lungs were filled with fluid and he was weezing, loudly, every breath. we had setup an appointment that morning to have him looked at, but bout 45 minutes before that appointment, it was so bad i thought he was going to suffocate and die. it was bad! i maintained 70 mph in a 55. set cruise control as to not let my emotions get away. so i know where this guy is coming from. slow down dude!

100+ mph is excessive. However, If I were the police officer, and I knew what was going on... I have told/signaled them to get behind me and I would escort them. I'm a sucker for dogs. I lost two during my deployment, and I wasn't there to stop it.

That's just me... this cop sounds like a dirtball.

If I was in that situation they wouldn't have me stopped till I was at the vet. Not like they could catch me

Why do I start thinking I am going to see some of you on Cops one of these days. After they thrown out those sticks that blow out tires or ram you off the road, there you are on TV yelling about your dog, as they open a can of whoop ass on you.
