Found this story on another website. Officer stopped driver for speeding. And no it's not to bash LE, but WTF!

If it's my dog, good luck stopping me before I get to the vet. There's an old saying that's very true: It's much easier to get forgiveness than permission.

"You can get another dog."?? is right!

So they're gonna drop the ticket and hope this thing goes away? That's messed up, you can see the cop doesn't like dogs.

"Just a dog!"?

Oh, and they dropped the ticket. Great, that will bring back the dog, won't it.

That's it, no more. I can't say what I want on here, but I'm thinking it! XXX rated!

I am not a dog hater by any means and the phrase "its just a dog you can get another one" was wrong... You cant overlook that they he was a young driver doing almost 100mph, with his girlfriend in the car. If you are a parent and this cop pulled your little girls boyfriend over for doing 100mph on the interstate due to a dogs health and let them go, then 5miles down the road your daughter was killed because SOMEONE crashed at 100mph , who should be held acountable?

Correct. So as someone else suggested, the cop could have escorted them. Some people look at dogs and/or cats as just beasts. Others look at their dogs and cats as their family-like furry children that have problems enunciating but are in many cases, better behaved than the two-legged urchins we see at the various stores. Given this latter view, what would you expect had they told the officer that their (human) child was ill in the back seat? Life has value. To trivialize it because it was born into a body with four legs and a tail is, IMHO, wrong.

Blessings,
B

That is so true. In fact it has been proven to extend the life of the owner, especially the elderly who has a pet of any kind.
They ARE family!

Sure he could have escorted them yes... but lets look at the life of other people that was on the road... i work in EMS and see this crap all the time... someone gets emotional and drives too fast and kills someone that is doing the speed limit minding their own business with their infant snugly strapped in the back seat. My final 2 cents, a dogs life is absolutely not equal to the lives on humans so i support the cop in his decision for stopping them, not how he handled it but keeping them from hurting others or themselves

It's a shame there aren't ambulances for animals.

I lost one of my dogs this past winter, 12 yo Brittany. Cried like a baby when he died. That being said, I would never equate him with my wife or children.
