The examples provided above under unrelated are stupid and provocative because they are both unsubstantiated. However, is the following unrelated? I have an AR listed for $1,600. Would it be wrong for someone to ask, "I just added all the costs of all your accessories and it only comes up to $1,100. Where is the other $500?"

As I mentioned above, I would rather have someone ask publicly so I can answer their concern than do it behind my back via PM.

Either way, it's Fenway's house and his rules. I'm just trying to clarify his intent.

That would be an acceptable question, depending on it's wording. If it were worded EXACTLY as you put it, I would think it was being asked by someone with little experience with that platform and I'd try to answer to the best of my ability. Now if someone said "I just added all the costs of all your accessories and it only comes up to $1,100. Only a dumbass would pay your price!" That would be unacceptable.

I think you misunderstood me...

I meant, if you were selling something that was too high/too low I'd PM you. Not behind your back to someone else expressing interest.

Now if you were a jerk(it's happened 2 or 3 times) after I attempted to help you out by telling you, then I might be inclined to PM someone less in the know about a certain price.

And by jerk I mean "my your own effing business," not "yeah it might be a bit high but I really need the money and can't change the price."

There's a pile of posts in "The Trashcan" that did not follow rule 5.
a large number of them are from the last 7 days.

There aren't a lot of us Moderators, we all have day jobs. Please try to make our lives easy, read the rules, and if you have a question about whether something you want to say breaks the rules.... PM one of us before posting it.

I'd rather answer two PM's asking "Would it be ok if I said... "Foo Bar Baz?" in post "Alpha Bravo?" Than have to read through 9 posts back and forth between a seller and a busy body that are NOT on the topic of actually selling the product.



If you think the seller is off.... PM the seller. If there is a buyer interested in the item at the price listed, that's capitalism. Things will sell for whatever someone is willing to pay for them.

As a side note, not all "unrelated content" is necessarily negative. A post with something to the effect of "This is a great gun and everyone should have one!" gets deleted just as frequently as "This is a piece of crap and you won't ever sell it at that price."
