Vincennes, IN Camping?

Anyone near Vincennes know of a somewhere that a group of approximately 12 Boy Scouts and 3 or 4 adult leaders can camp on Memorial Day weekend?

The Annual Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous is that weekend, and we need to come up from Evansville on Friday evening, camp Friday night and Saturday night, and depart Sunday morning. This would be May 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.

As an afterthought, we do have a place about 35 minutes away, but were hoping to get closer. Water, electricity, facilities, etc. are not necessary, primitive is more than acceptable

Oubache Trails park is just outside of town near the Ft. Knox II site. If that is full, there is a little state park in Bruceville called White Oaks. It is small, but might work for you. Those are the first two that come to mind. If I can think of more, I will let you know.

Thanks Airwolf...I'll try to contact those first thing tomorrow. From what I've heard, anything relatively close is probably full; this is the first year we've attended this, and it came up at the last moment, but we'll give it a shot! If nothing else, maybe we can locate someone with some private property who won't mind helping out some Scouts!

It appears that alot of the public campgrounds are full. We're still looking for a place if anyone has any other suggestions!

You could try Camp Arthur.....5-10 miles north of town. It would work fine. I have no idea how it's changed in the last 32 years though. Found a link with some contact info might give you a place to start.

Forgot about Camp Arthur, good call. There is Red Hills State Park in IL, which is about 20 minutes away.

Thanks JD; that flyer is actually for Old Ben Scout Reservation, which is about 6 miles east of Petersburgh. That's our backup spot that's about a 35 or 40 minute drive, and is beginning to look like where we're going to be staying.
