Summit Lake SP --DNR

If looking to go fishing don't bother with Summit Lake unless you have a lot of patience and don't mind harassment. Fish bite well. Caught lots of nice 1-3.5 bass and few bluegill over the last couple days.
Only problem - DNR. They will run their boats right into yours and check your license. I understand they are doing their job but 4 stops in two days is a bit excessive.
The can tell my boat has valid tags and registration as they look through their binoculars. (they scan the lake to see which boat to check next)
I may sound whiney but when they muddy up a challow fishing spot that is just rude.
Plus, think how it would feel to get pulled over 4 times in two days while driving your legally plated vehicle and the officer asks "Can I check for a valid license?" Simply idiotic.
Taxpayers buy these guys 15 thousand dollar boats to write hundred dollar tickets. What a waste of resources.
BTW it wasn't just me. Multiple boaters in the campground were discussing their over zealous efforts.

Wilbur Wright FWA is no better. The range master drives up and down the roads while we are running the beagles, at excessive speeds, endangering the dogs and handlers, then up at the range he will watch you fill out the range card, then wait for you to put it in your pocket, then ask to see it. I just wish the DNR could get some good help at these properties, Wilbur Wright is getting worse by the day.

What seems to be even more astounding is the prosecutors I work with on a daily basis have little to no patience for DNR or their practices of law enforcement.
DNR in Indiana has more investigative powers than most LEOs as in they can come up to your boat and demand your papers without reasonable suspicion of you doing anything wrong. If a regular LEO pulled over a citizen and demanded documentation without reasonable suspicion lawsuits and terminations would fly.
I have great respect for the mission of DNR I just dont undertsand why they insist on alienating those individuals that fund that same mission. We are all on the same side on this one.
Why cant they tag your boat with a sticker or something that shows it has already been checked that day as legitimate? I guess that would make too much sense.
I have also had them screw up deer hunts in the past.
Would it just kill them to wait for me at my truck ?

I don't hunt at Wilbur Wright anymore. Every time I have I spend at least ten minutes dealing with DNR. They'll check licences (hunting and drivers'), they run the numbers on my shotgun. Just not worth the effort.

Just doing their job guys. I for one am glad to see them after seeing many who take small or way to many fish out. I would not want that job and the danger that comes with it.
