.22LR semi auto pistol for squirrel hunting

I'd suggest a Ruger 22/45 or a Mk I, II, or if you have to, a III.... With the longest barrel you can find.

For semi-auto, any of them will be fine.

For myself, the Ruger Single Six is perfect. One shot/one kill.

But that wasn't your question, was it?

I use a Ruger MKII w/10" bull barrel.

It's a little heavy for a pistol, but it's "rifle accurate" @ 50 yards if I do my part.

Same here, I can hit a 6" gong, standing, unsupported,at 100 yards with mine and a 4 power scope.

Not to poo-poo your choice for semi but I have had excellent luck with my Ruger Single Six w/ 6&1/2" barrel.I did do a trigger job and used Wolff springs for a smoother/faster hammer action.
