I Saw Antlers Today!! - Page 2

I've been seeing a few does but no bucks really. Saw one the other day while driving but it was way off and I could only see enough antlers to tell it was a buck.

Saw what looked like a nice 8 or 10 standing on the side of the road around mm 90 on I65 south this morning around 7:00am. Had a couple of does 100 yards behind him too.

I have a question, my neighbor at my hunting property gets depredation tags but said they can only be used on antlerless deer. Is that true?
Why would you want to shoot a twelve pointer during the summer in velvet when you can wait for him to fatten up and shoot him during the regular INDIANA deer seasons. I think that if it is legal to take bucks with dep. permits the antlers should be forfeited because the program is aimed at herd reduction in specific areas NOT antler reduction.

It is legal to take bucks as well as does with the dep tags. But you must give DNR one side of the antlers so that people aren't out there trying to trophy hunt out of season. But they do prefer you to take does cause that will do more to reduce the herd. But as the area dnr biologist told me, if its brown and passes in front of you, shoot it. lol

Iv'e seen two nice bucks this week in the velvet on the way home going by a new area were hunting this fall, cant hardly wait.

We have lived in this house since January of 2002 and have yet to see any antlers. We can sometimes see around 12 deer at once but have never seen any antlers. I'm beginning to think they don't use bucks to make babies.

I would love to just see one. I love deer. We put salt blocks and stuff out for them. I like them coming into my yard except for the fact they like to eat some of our trees.

Saw 3 antlered bucks this week in yard. 8,6, & forkhorn. 8 pt was nice. Rack out past ears & probably over 12" tall. 50 yds. from house. Nice to live in country & see them out the windows.

I have been seeing quite a few velvet antlers in the last weeks or so as well. Put up a trailcam yesterday. If I get any quality pics, I will post them.
