I don't get the fever this early, but with all this talk..... off to Gander Mountain

Lung shot for me, it depends if I'm in a blind or on a stand.

This is a pointless argument. Last year after field dressing my buck his atria (right and left) were hamburger after 295g smashed them from 20 yards. He still ran 60-80 fell into a ravine and tried to get up several times. Shoot the kill zone behind the shoulder, save your roasts. The heart and lung is the same package. If you hit the heart...you've pierced the lungs as well. Know your anatomy and never shoot the head, that just doesn't make any sense.

I prefer a lung shot myself. Like others have said. Lungs = Heart and vice versa.

No, lungs dont = heart, but heart does = lungs most of the time....

An ethical hunter wont make a neck shot his primary shot. A poor placed neck shot will leave a deer wounded. Maybe it will die in a couple days, maybe not.

I always try to go for the heart. If I'm off just a tad, it will rip through the lungs and miss the heart. If I hit the sweet spot, three out of three so far, then you get the lungs anyway. Try to bust that spot right behind the shoulder blades.
I hit a nice young buck last year. Perfect shot, between the shoulder blades and into the lungs and exploded the heart. He was at a slight angle to me. He still ran about 100 yards before dropping into a small woods. tough young dude. When I cleaned him, the lungs were literally gone. The heart was in two halves. I was shocked to see the adrenalin had let him run that far.
