![]() | Decent Fishing Areas in Central IN Any body know of good fishing areas in Central IN? I am really not into pay lakes or Eagle Creek. It would really be nice to find someone with a big farm pond. I am a catch and release fisher and just want a decent place to do some good bass fishing.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | summit lake in New Castle area has some good bass fishing but the DNR officers there seem to take a personal interest in ruining your shallow water fishing. Smallmouth on the white river north of indy is lots of fun too. |

![]() ![]() | The best fishing is in the little neighborhood retention ponds. I kidd you not, Ihave caught more 5 pound bass from ponds the size of a basketball court than I can count. My cousin caught a 7 pound bass this spring. You can take a boat out on eagle creek, or geist, or any lake or river around, and you will not find fishing half as good as the retention ponds. It's unreal. The one across the street from me I can cast across, and its loaded with 8 pound flatheads, no idea hoe they got there. Try it, you will NOT be dissapointed. |

![]() ![]() | Fishing novice query here: Do you want to be eating anything out of a retention pond, though? How do you tell if the water is decent enough?

![]() ![]() ![]() | Mhank, +1 on the neighborhood retention ponds. I see you live in Westfield. There must be dozens of neighborhood ponds in that area. I live north as well and fish the ponds close to me. Granted I don't make a day of it but I do like to grab a cigar and a few lures and walk the banks. I've even had some success after dark with a buzz bait. Lots of fun and the see-gar helps keep the skeeters away. Also +1 on Brookville. That is a neat area of the state. Lots to do. Even a public range on the northwest side of the lake. $4-5 shoot all day. Try the pizza place just below the dam...Good stuff! |
