I have done the same thing with my girlfriend's daughter. She took the Basic Pistol Course and has started doing IDPA stages. The point was not to 'indocrinate' or brainwash her, but to provide good information so when she is of age she can make her own decisions about her personal safety. So far she's one hell of a shooter!  She could not stand the thought of hunting though, lol!
