| Plinker | For my trips to Texas, I have built a cooler that is 4' wide by 3' deep and the height of my bed rail. This takes up about half of my truck bed. I built a frame using 2x4s and a hinged top on it. Inside I used a good quality tarp and stapled at the top to form to the box. I only use it once per year but cost me very little. Last year we fit 4 quartered hogs and 120 lbs of ice in it. I add a soft car top carrier bag on top of this to put luggage in for the trip home. |

| wheelman for hire ![]() | Sounds like you had a great trip!! Very nice hog, I bet you'll enjoy that pork for a while! ![]() I may be winning a trip like this. Its a russian boar hunt down in TN as well. If I get it I'm just trying to decide which rifle to take, lol. What ranges were you seeing the most? I'm trying to decide on whether to take a scoped rifle or one with open sights.

All of the shots were pretty up close and personal (50 yards or less, most were 30 or less). I preferred the EoTech because of the quick acquisition and the ease of use in this terrain (lots of trees, leafs, etc. not very many open spaces). I wold be sure to take something you are comfortable with and with enough knockdown power for the big hogs. Most of us were glad we were in the .30 cal and larger camp; however, the smaller hogs we saw could be taken with the a smaller caliber weapon. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am from TX and they are a pain in the butt, farmer will practically pay you to come take care of the problems they cause!! They will tear up land faster than any animal out there, cant stand them, but i agree they are some good eating every now and then. Watched on the news just the other day how they are over populating in so many areas just bc they multiply so fast and really can survive just about all conditions!
