   | Colorado Elk hunt Next September/August my dad and I are planning on a Colorado Elk hunt. We already know were we are going to go because he has been in that area hunting elk before. We are going to pack into the mountains with canned food and the like for I'm hoping 7 days. To make this a true Miller adventure we are taking our recurves. We plan on setting up at some wallows in the mountains and bugling. Does anyone have any tips before I go or what some tricks are if we down one? I know it's far away but I have a lot of gear to get and I'm trying to get a jump start.

 | i went to rifle colorado (almost straight west of denver) hunting a few years ago. if you plan on buying new boots make 100% sure they are broke in before you go. trust me when walking that much you dont want your feet hurting. also get in shape. do alot of hill climbs. our hills and there hills are completly diffrent so you have to climb ours alot to make up for one of theres. and when you think your in good enough shape just think there is alot less oxygen there than here. a recurve will be tough. i went after the rut so there was no bugeling. i took one but it was 438 yds away so a recurve would have done me no good. it will be tough but its the best vacation ive ever had |
