![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My Saturday morning hunt Friday night I get a call from a buddy asking if I wanted to go hunting in the morning on some land he had scouted and set up 2 stands in. I had not been hunting since high school ('04), and sold my slug gun this past summer. He said he had a gun I could take so I said sure why not, and started to dig up my old camo's. Then I decided I needed my own gun so I checked up the classifieds here and on hoosiertopics and found a M500 w/ scope and rifled barrel along with some other goodies, Perfect! I met the seller at 7:30 pm Friday night then headed home to sight it in by the headlights of my truck. Finished that up at about 930 pm feeling pretty comfortable with my 2 in groups at 75 yds. Saturday morning we head out for the woods. Arrive about 5:50am, and get set up. See a couple before daybreak and then nothing until about 8:30. I get a text from my buddy that says "YOUR RIGHT!". To my right was the sun and I couldnt see anything, but being careful to not move I wait and about 5 minutes later a pretty good sized buck appears, one rifled slug later=my first kill. I wait about 15 minutes to be sure he doesnt get up, and then begin to exit my stand. When I turn around I see another deer behind me, this one is antlerless but fair sized so I take it as well. Not a bad first morning after a 5 year layoff. I owe it all to my buddy however for putting me in a prime spot! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by lewisjt; 11-19-2009 at 07:34. |
